What are some of the things that you have to think about when you are looking to purchase a hot car? There are short term costs as well as long term costs.
The price of the vehicle can be a short term one time cost, or a long term cost, depending on how you finance the hot car. If you have the total amount for the hot car then the final price of the hot car will be a one time cost. If you are financing the hot car it will be a monthly payment. Paying monthly will usually drive up the cost of the vehicle just because of interest that is tacked onto the price of the hot car.
The one time or annual expenses will be, the Down Payment, Tax, Title, Registration fees, Extended service contracts, AAA membership or roadside assistance, Vehicle Excise Tax, Delivery charges and prep charges.
Some of the monthly fees would be Monthly Car Payment, Anticipated Monthly Fuel Expenses (based on use and EPA mileage estimate), Mileage (estimate), Insurance, Parking or Tolls and maintenance (oil changes, tires, brake pads, windshield wiper blades, etc.)
These costs are mentioned here just so you can know how much your hot car is going to cost you. It would be a shame to buy a hot car and then not have the money to make the monthly payment, or be able to maintain the car because of unplanned expenses.
Once you have all the finances figured out you have to figure out which car you want to buy. That's where this site comes in very handy, as well as other sites. This site has long listing of hot cars that are waiting for you to bid on and bring home.
Other sites that can be helpful are sites like CARFAX, where you can actually look up the vehicle history. Hopefully they have the specifications on the car you are looking for. It is to the sellers advantage to have the history of the car out there available for you, so CARFAX may be a good options to find out about a particular hot car that you are interested in.
Another thing you have to think about in the cost, and this can also add to the “Hot” factor of you car, is the accessories. Accessories can really add value to your car. You have to be careful about accessories though. Some accessories may detract from your car, or not add any value at all. One thing that is always bad to do is pay for an accessory that you never use. Buying an accessory with the vehicle is usually a good choice simply because you don’t have to think about it later. If you are like most people its easy to put off getting an wanted accessory until later and then not wanting to spend the extra money on it, but always thinking…I wish I would have bought that when I got the vehicle…. Buying a car online eliminates a lot of this because you’re usually buying a whole package, accessories, whatever they may be, included as is. When you calculate the cost of the car make sure you know what accessories you want to get that the hot car does not currently have, so you can purchase it on your own and add it to your hot car after you win the bid, or purchase the hot car.
It may also be a good idea to know if you are going to purchase a warranty with the vehicle. There are a number of places that will sell an after market warranty to you. If you plan on using the car as a work in progress you may not need a warranty as you beef it up as you go. No need to put a warranty on a car if you can fix anything that goes wrong with it yourself.
